AUDI A4 FACELIFT.

While the launch of the new BMW 3 Series Saloon has dominated the car world for the past fortnight, Audi has been preparing their new facelifted 2012 Audi A4 range.
The A4 will get a slight nip and tuck by end-2011. Expect A6-like tapering headlights, LED tail-lamps and restyled bumpers as also a new MMI multimedia interface. The engines should be carried over from the current car though the range-topping 3.2-litre FSI could be replaced by the A6’s smashing supercharged 3-litre V6 TFSI engine.Among the updates are a subtly reshaped grille that brings the A4 range in-line with the brand’s latest styling, along with the German carmaker’s new uniform headlight styling. There are also reshaped taillights and lightly updated bumpers at both ends. For a sportier appearance, the S-line package has a reduced ride height and 18-inch alloy wheels (19-inchers are optional).

Inside, the cabin gains a new steering wheel, revised trim and additional chrome accents. Other changes include an updated infotainment system and buttons for the heated and cooled seats.
Audi’s best-selling model line has also come in for an engine update, gaining the new 1.8-litre, four-cylinder, TFSI engine that debuted with the updated A5 range earlier this year. Producing 125 kW of power, the new engine delivers a touch more power than its 118 kW predecessor. Fuel consumption is listed at 4.6 L/100km. A 157 kW 2.0-litre TFSI, four-cylinder, petrol engine (up from 132 kW) also features, while the supercharged 245 kW 3.0-litre V6 carries over for the range-topping S4.

On the handling front, the Audi A4 has a revised suspension and a new power steering system which “requires no energy for straight-ahead motion, thereby reducing fuel consumption by up to 0.3 L/100 km.

NEW CR-V

These are the first official images of Honda’s all-new CR-V. Honda had released the first official picture of the CR-V concept last summer, and was due to unveil the production car at next month's Los Angeles motor show. However, the latest images appeared without explanation on the Honda’s Japanese website at the weekend. The CR-V is based on an all-new platform. The most prominent changes are at the front, where the CR-V features a wraparound lower front bumper that is better integrated into the rest of the front fascia than on the current car. The three-bar horizontal front grille is also much more dominant than the current CR-V’s, with slimmed-down headlights flanking it on either side. Honda claims the front-end styling changes result in much improved aerodynamics over the current car. Sculpted bodywork features on the sides, which also get more pronounced side sills. The large alloy wheels featured on the concept have been exchanged for more practical-looking variants.

Maruti S-cross facelift: What to expect

Maruti revealed a facelift for the S-cross at the Paris motor show earlier this year. The automaker’s premium crossover now gets a more distinctive front end with a new larger upright grille, new headlamps and a new bumper. The rear gets minor cosmetic tweaks as does the cabin with revised upholstery and new trim options. Maruti is planning to bring the refreshed S-cross to India late next year, and expects that the more crossover-like design of the facelift may boost sales of the slow seller.
