Mahindra and Mahindra motors, after tasting success with its XUV-500 SUV, is preparing for the launch of its Rexton SUV. Mahindra and Mahindra acquired the Korean car maker Ssangyong and the test drives in Indian roads have started in full swing. The homegrown automaker has also planned to bring in the Korando C to Indian market. Recent reports suggest that Mahindra might unveil the Mahindra-Ssangyong Rexton and Korando SUV at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. Korando will be the first entering the Indian shores followed by Rexton SUV.


The car has been spotted testing more than once in India which has helped in getting an overall idea about the Mahindra-Ssangyong Rexton SUV. Indiancarsbike.in portal has recently captured the Rexton SUV completely undisguised. Considering those spy pics, Rexton SUV, on the whole, looks like the first version of Honda CR-V. The SUV has a well spaced chrome grille upfront with bold Headlights occupying the sides. The side look of the car exhibits its ground clearance.
The Ssangyong Rexton is expected to be powered with 2.7 litre turbocharged common-rail diesel engine which is capable of producing 84 PS of maximum power and a massive 402 Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a five speed manual gear box. An automatic transmission version is expected in India later. Rexton is expected to be priced in India at Rs 17 lakhs.

NEW CR-V

These are the first official images of Honda’s all-new CR-V. Honda had released the first official picture of the CR-V concept last summer, and was due to unveil the production car at next month's Los Angeles motor show. However, the latest images appeared without explanation on the Honda’s Japanese website at the weekend. The CR-V is based on an all-new platform. The most prominent changes are at the front, where the CR-V features a wraparound lower front bumper that is better integrated into the rest of the front fascia than on the current car. The three-bar horizontal front grille is also much more dominant than the current CR-V’s, with slimmed-down headlights flanking it on either side. Honda claims the front-end styling changes result in much improved aerodynamics over the current car. Sculpted bodywork features on the sides, which also get more pronounced side sills. The large alloy wheels featured on the concept have been exchanged for more practical-looking variants.

Kia Motors set to enter India

It’s no secret that Kia Motors, a part of the Hyundai Motor Group has been exploring an entry into the Indian market for several years. In fact, it’s surprising that Kia has taken so long to enter such an important market that has long been ripe for the picking.
