Audi A6 facelift wins top IIHS safety honour.

The updated Audi A6 or the 2016 Audi A6 has been awarded IIHS’ top rating of Top Safety Pick+; the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) also said that the car’s performance was “stellar”.

The 2016 Audi A6 was reportedly updated with this test in mind. The IIHS stated that “the driver's space was maintained well, with maximum intrusion of four inches at the foot rest”, and that the crash test dummy’s movements were well controlled too. They also added that the “measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of severity”.

However, one area of concern that was spotted, was the car’s crash prevention/mitigation tech, which, though good at low speeds, failed to make much of a difference at high speeds. The system, despite this, earned credit for a caution component that met the government’s criteria for forward collision warning.
The updated Audi A6 is expected to launch in India this year.
