Renault gears up to launch Duster 4x4.

The upcoming festive season will see Renault launch a range-topping four-wheel-drive version of the Duster SUV in India. The model is already available in international markets badged as a Dacia.

The new Duster 4x4 model will be powered by the familiar 108.5bhp, 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine while transmission duties will be handled by a six-speed manual gearbox which will power all four wheels. Three different modes – a two-wheel drive high, four-wheel drive low and four-wheel drive high – will be on offer. The export 4x4 model is available in both petrol and diesel guise, but the carmaker is expected to launch only the diesel variant in the Indian market.
In terms of equipment, the new 4x4 model will get similar fare as on the top RXZ diesel variants with a touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted controls, 2-DIN stereo system, rear air-con vents, keyless entry, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, emergency brake assist and dual SRS front airbags.

When launched around September, the Renault Duster 4x4 will be the most expensive model in the line-up. Expect it to be priced at a premium of around Rs 80,000 over the current top-end variant. The 4x4 version will take on the likes of the Mahindra Scorpio 4x4 and the Tata Safari Storme 4x4.

NEW CR-V

These are the first official images of Honda’s all-new CR-V. Honda had released the first official picture of the CR-V concept last summer, and was due to unveil the production car at next month's Los Angeles motor show. However, the latest images appeared without explanation on the Honda’s Japanese website at the weekend. The CR-V is based on an all-new platform. The most prominent changes are at the front, where the CR-V features a wraparound lower front bumper that is better integrated into the rest of the front fascia than on the current car. The three-bar horizontal front grille is also much more dominant than the current CR-V’s, with slimmed-down headlights flanking it on either side. Honda claims the front-end styling changes result in much improved aerodynamics over the current car. Sculpted bodywork features on the sides, which also get more pronounced side sills. The large alloy wheels featured on the concept have been exchanged for more practical-looking variants.

Maruti S-cross facelift: What to expect

Maruti revealed a facelift for the S-cross at the Paris motor show earlier this year. The automaker’s premium crossover now gets a more distinctive front end with a new larger upright grille, new headlamps and a new bumper. The rear gets minor cosmetic tweaks as does the cabin with revised upholstery and new trim options. Maruti is planning to bring the refreshed S-cross to India late next year, and expects that the more crossover-like design of the facelift may boost sales of the slow seller.
