Hyundai Grand i10 launched at Rs 4.29 lakh.

Hyundai has launched the new Grand i10 hatchback, which will slot in between the current i10 and the i20 in the carmaker’s line-up.

The Hyundai Grand i10 is available in four trims – Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta.

The Era gets power steering, an air conditioner and an engine immobiliser. The Magna trim adds central locking, fog lamps, keyless entry, wheel covers, electrically-adjustable wing mirrors, power windows and rear air-con vents. The Sportz trim gets rear parking sensors, a music system with aux-in and USB connectivity, push button start, tilt-adjustable steering wheel and a cooled glove box. The top-of-the-line Asta trim adds a rear windscreen wash/wipe with a defogger, rear spoiler, alloy wheels, driver’s seat height adjust, steering-mounted audio controls and Bluetooth connectivity.

The base petrol Era trim costs Rs 4.29 lakh, the Magna trim comes for Rs 4.49 lakh, the Sportz trim for Rs 4.88 lakh, and the Asta trim for Rs 5.47 lakh. The diesel Era comes for Rs 5.23 lakh, the Magna for Rs 5.43 lakh, the Sportz for Rs 5.82 lakh, and the Asta for Rs 6.41 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Hyundai has stated that these prices are introductory.

The car comes in two engine options, a 1.1-litre, three-cylinder U2 VGT diesel motor that develops 70bhp, and the familiar 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine option. An automatic gearbox could also be available as an option later. The diesel returns an ARAI-rated 24kpl.

NEW CR-V

These are the first official images of Honda’s all-new CR-V. Honda had released the first official picture of the CR-V concept last summer, and was due to unveil the production car at next month's Los Angeles motor show. However, the latest images appeared without explanation on the Honda’s Japanese website at the weekend. The CR-V is based on an all-new platform. The most prominent changes are at the front, where the CR-V features a wraparound lower front bumper that is better integrated into the rest of the front fascia than on the current car. The three-bar horizontal front grille is also much more dominant than the current CR-V’s, with slimmed-down headlights flanking it on either side. Honda claims the front-end styling changes result in much improved aerodynamics over the current car. Sculpted bodywork features on the sides, which also get more pronounced side sills. The large alloy wheels featured on the concept have been exchanged for more practical-looking variants.

Maruti S-cross facelift: What to expect

Maruti revealed a facelift for the S-cross at the Paris motor show earlier this year. The automaker’s premium crossover now gets a more distinctive front end with a new larger upright grille, new headlamps and a new bumper. The rear gets minor cosmetic tweaks as does the cabin with revised upholstery and new trim options. Maruti is planning to bring the refreshed S-cross to India late next year, and expects that the more crossover-like design of the facelift may boost sales of the slow seller.
