Updated Volvo range revealed.

Volvo has overhauled the majority of its range in what it describes as “the most extensive development of existing models” in the firm’s history.

The S60 saloon, XC60 SUV and S80 saloon all get a new family look and improved equipment levels.
Volvo's updates aren't limited to just exterior changes, however. The S60 models benefit from new interior trim and adaptive cornering lights.

The S80 saloon is available with a new luxury 'Executive' interior package that provides bespoke trim options. The XC60, Volvo's best-selling model, is now devoid of black trim and torque vectoring is standard fit.

The look of the new models incorporates styling references from the Volvo Concept You, a big saloon concept revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt motor show.

The more rounded and dynamic family look of the previous models is replaced by a visually widened front end, more prominent horizontal lines and slimmer lights.

A key addition to the firm’s BMW 3-series-rivalling S60 and V60 models is the option of a lowered sports chassis for all variants.

A new multimedia system has been introduced across the six revised models. Called Sensus Connected Touch, the system includes full internet access, internet radio, Google maps and search and internet music streaming. Internet access is obtained through 3G/4G from the driver’s mobile phone. The seven-inch touchscreen can also be used while wearing gloves.

The TFT instrument panel from the latest V40 has been rolled out across the revised Volvo range. Steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters have also been added to automatic models, while a heated steering wheel can be specified on the S80, V70 and XC70. Additionally, a fast-clearing heated front windscreen has been added to Volvos that are equipped with a rain sensor. 

The overhauled Volvo range will be available globally soon. India will get the V40 Cross Country in the coming months.

NEW CR-V

These are the first official images of Honda’s all-new CR-V. Honda had released the first official picture of the CR-V concept last summer, and was due to unveil the production car at next month's Los Angeles motor show. However, the latest images appeared without explanation on the Honda’s Japanese website at the weekend. The CR-V is based on an all-new platform. The most prominent changes are at the front, where the CR-V features a wraparound lower front bumper that is better integrated into the rest of the front fascia than on the current car. The three-bar horizontal front grille is also much more dominant than the current CR-V’s, with slimmed-down headlights flanking it on either side. Honda claims the front-end styling changes result in much improved aerodynamics over the current car. Sculpted bodywork features on the sides, which also get more pronounced side sills. The large alloy wheels featured on the concept have been exchanged for more practical-looking variants.

Maruti S-cross facelift: What to expect

Maruti revealed a facelift for the S-cross at the Paris motor show earlier this year. The automaker’s premium crossover now gets a more distinctive front end with a new larger upright grille, new headlamps and a new bumper. The rear gets minor cosmetic tweaks as does the cabin with revised upholstery and new trim options. Maruti is planning to bring the refreshed S-cross to India late next year, and expects that the more crossover-like design of the facelift may boost sales of the slow seller.
