MAHINDRA MINI XYLO to launched early 2012.

The country’s largest SUV maker Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing-up to launch a small 'mini' version of its popular sports utility vehicle – Xylo – in the Indian market. In a bid to qualify for the lower excise duty segment, the Mini Xylo will be offered in a size of less than 4 meters and is expected to come powered by a 1.5L diesel engine. The Mini Xylo will be carrying a seating capacity of five along with a spacious interior. 

The Mini Xylo hatchback is expected to be launched in the price range of Rs 4.5 to 5.5 lakh, where it will be competing with the likes of Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo, Nissan Micra, Maruti Swift and soon to be launched Chevrolet Beat diesel. However, the main rival of the car will be the Premier Rio! 

The Mini Xylo will be the first ever small hatchback in M&M’s India portfolio as so far the company has been selling SUVs and the Logan sedan in the country. The launch of Mini Xylo will not only strengthen the company’s portfolio in the country, but will also enhance its market share. 

The new Mini Xylo will borrow a number of its styling cues from the existing model of Xylo and is expected to be carrying the same front as of Xylo. However, the company is yet to reveal the specification details and timeline of the launch of the Mini Xylo in the country.

Engine & Specifications of the Mini Xylo

As mentioned above, the Mini Xylo hatchback will come powered by a 1.5L diesel engine as compared to the 2.5L engine of the Xylo SUV. It will possibly be a three-cylinder engine and will come coupled with a five speed manual transmission system. The engine power and torque of the Mini Xylo are yet to be known. The new Mini Xylo will come equipped with an Independent Coil Springs and Multi Link Coil Spring suspension system.

Performance of the Mini Xylo

The Mini Xylo is currently under hot weather testing in Rajasthan. The company has been considering the needs and requirements of the Indian buyers of this segment while developing the Mini Xylo. The car is expected to prove a powerful performer on the Indian roads and carries features like power steering and Independent Coil Springs, Multi Link Coil Spring suspension system. Thus, the Mini Xylo car is expected to deliver a power-packed performance on the Indian roads. It will be carrying high acceleration & pick-up characteristics along with a considerably high fuel economy.

Exterior, Interior & Safety Features of the Mini Xylo

The Mini Xylo model will be borrowing a number of styling and designing cues from the existing Xylo SUV. The front of the car is expected to be directly taken from the Xylo SUV. Even the interiors of the car will come influenced by the existing model of Mahindra Xylo though there will be only two seating rows in the Mini Xylo. The Mini Xylo is expected to come blessed with a range of safety features including airbags and ABS (anti-lock braking system).

NEW CR-V

These are the first official images of Honda’s all-new CR-V. Honda had released the first official picture of the CR-V concept last summer, and was due to unveil the production car at next month's Los Angeles motor show. However, the latest images appeared without explanation on the Honda’s Japanese website at the weekend. The CR-V is based on an all-new platform. The most prominent changes are at the front, where the CR-V features a wraparound lower front bumper that is better integrated into the rest of the front fascia than on the current car. The three-bar horizontal front grille is also much more dominant than the current CR-V’s, with slimmed-down headlights flanking it on either side. Honda claims the front-end styling changes result in much improved aerodynamics over the current car. Sculpted bodywork features on the sides, which also get more pronounced side sills. The large alloy wheels featured on the concept have been exchanged for more practical-looking variants.

Maruti S-cross facelift: What to expect

Maruti revealed a facelift for the S-cross at the Paris motor show earlier this year. The automaker’s premium crossover now gets a more distinctive front end with a new larger upright grille, new headlamps and a new bumper.
